At first I was skeptical. I felt A.I. was going to do a lot of damage. It will, jobs, for one, especially in the arts. There is obvious benefits, and there is some negative impacts. Is it perfect?, well… in some cases, no. I’m going to focus this message on the creative side.
I am a musican, photographer, and what they call now a days a “DIgital Creator”. I’m older in my 60’s. I can’t play the guitar as well as I use to due to a career in the telecommunications industry that took a toll on my body.
When I create music through A.I., I don’t simply tell it to make a song about (what ever). I use my knowledge in music and years of influence to create and dive deep into the structure of what I want to create. I see it as if I had a million dollar studio, and an crew of various musicians at my disposal that I would direct and produce to my liking. I geneally create something in my little home studio and use SUNO to add instruments that I do not have access to or can play. My voice is something to be desired so having a vocalist at my disposal is pretty cool. I am very detailed on my prompts and keep at it until I am satisfied with the outcome. Prompting style, key, BPM, tempo, instruments and other details. Again, anyone can tell it to make a song about a cat.
I’m not in it to try to fool anyone, or mislead that this music is “real” by real musicians. It’s real to me in a sense, because I still have control over the outcome. It’s still my thoughts and influences that utlimately create the final product. Unfortunately there will be some that will abuse these tools, and try to be deceptive.
With all this being said, throw hate at me if you like. I’m content, and after all, art moves us, no matter how it was created. If a bannana glued in the middle of picture frame can be displayed in an art gallery (google it), it obvisously moved some one, then if you like a song, it shouldn’t matter where or how it was created. Afterall, a very popular Broadway musical was done with a bunch of people pounding on trash cans and tire rims. Art can be anyhing that you want it to be.
